Its a major center for trauma, transplant, cardiology, and more and the premier Hospital for this area of n florida. Complex patients for all over the area come here for treatment. The hospital was showing its age in some spots but they have recently made some nice improvements and are building a brand new tower to be opened next year which will add further enhancements.
I had surgery and stayed 2 nights at the hospital. The entire staff was caring and courteous and looking out for my comfort and healing. The rooms were calm and soothing and it was an overall positive experience, as much as major surgery can be.
My dad is currently a patient who under went oral surgery and now has had a total of 4 pints of blood in the last 3 weeks. 3 pints was given 2 days after surgery and 1 pint just lastnight 9-2-2017. We now have rectal bleeding and kidney failure and infection from the surgical sight. On top of bacteria in his blood they are treating him for. This hospital has sovereign immunity which means no malpractice suit can ever be filed. They can treat patients however they want and do whatever they want with no legal consequences from families of the patients or by the patients them selves. This place is a joke and im looking for relocating my dad as of right now. My opinion dont risk your loved ones life for this place
Me and my husband brought our daughter to the children's hospital and each staff member went out of their way to make sure our 4yr old was comfortable. Not only did they cater to her every need, making sure she could watch Barbie movies, chocolate milk in a sippy cup (provided by the staff) and giving her tattoos and stickers on top of tattoos and stickers, they also were polite, sensitive, and caring to me and my husband. I will always be greatful to the staff at Shands Children Medical❤
The hospital staff was horrible they let my pain pump run out three times after major surgery I was in tears and had to wake my husband to come in to the hospital to get help. The room was filthy and there was hair in my food. It was a nightmare. That’s just the beginning of the horrors. They said they would address the issues and now they will not return phone calls. Stay away or risk your life.
